So nach und nach werden Kataloge angeboten als wären es Originalkataloge. Wie konnen Original Kataloge von Nachdrucke unterschieden werden? Herunter folgen einige Daten.

Bei den deutschsprachigen Katalognachdrucken ist das Jahreszahl auf der Linken Unterseite oft weggelassen. Nur das weist schon darauf, dass es um einen Nachdruck geht.

Die Firma Märklin hatte selbst vor etwa 10 Jahren her angefangen mit die Herausgabe von alten Katalogen als Reproduktion. Die Kataloge ab 1927 bis und zu 1938/39, 1947 und die Kataloge 1949 und 1950 sind durch Märklin als Reproduktion ausgegeben. Obwohl diese Kataloge vorsehen sind mit dem Jahreszahl und Kennzeichen (D oder DD), sind sie alle als Reproduktion gekennzeichnet.

Es gibt fremdsprachige Kataloge ohne Jahreszahl oder andere Kennzeichen. Oft beschränkt sich die Seitenzahl solche kataloge und obwohl es keine Farbabbildungen in diesen Katalogen gibt, können sie als original gekennzeichnet werden.

From time to time Märklin catalogs are being offered as original whilst these are sometimes in fact reprints. How can one make the difference between an original and a reprint?

All the reprints I have seen in the past 20 years are in the german language. Original catalogs show at the bottom of the below left corner of the frontcover a catalognumber and a yearnumber. If these numbers are not there it is certainly a reprint concerning catalogs in the german language.

The Märklin toycompany started to reissue several old catalogs, starting from 1927 until 1938/39, 1947, 1949 and 1950. Although these catalogs show all the before mentioned catalogdates, they are all clearly stated as being a reproduktion.

However, prewar Märklin catalogs printed in different languages without any signification regarding date of issue or catalognumber. These catalogs often have less pages compared with the german one's, are all in black and white, but are nevertheless likely to be known as being original.
